HISP Zimbabwe

Locally grounded. Regionally capable. Globally connected.

HISP Zimbabwe (HISP ZW) is a registered organisation in Zimbabwe and part of the global Health Information Systems Programme (HISP) network.

Our team specialises in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), informatics and public health, and draws on the expertise of the wider HISP network.

We work in partnership with the University of Oslo for contracts and grants, and with Ministries of Health, higher-education institutions, NGOs, and implementation and development partners.

Local delivery

Implementation experience in Zimbabwe's health system

We are grounded in Zimbabwe. Our team works from Harare, with the implementers, trainers and institutions who run these systems day to day. That local experience shapes how we design, deploy and support them.

Global collaboration

Part of the HISP network coordinated from Oslo

HISP Zimbabwe is part of the global Health Information Systems Programme (HISP) network and works in partnership with the University of Oslo. The network gives us shared methods, open-source platforms and a community of practitioners to learn from and contribute to.

Regional ambition

A technology partner for programmes across Africa

We aim to support digital information systems well beyond Zimbabwe, working with governments, development agencies, NGOs and institutions across Africa. This is our ambition and our capability. It is not a list of past deliveries, and we name a country only where a project has been confirmed.

Vision

To foster the growth and adoption of secure, integrated information systems that empower patients, support health professionals and guide decision-makers, contributing to local and global development goals. In time, we aim to extend this to other areas of IT that improve quality of life.

Mission

To give health organisations comprehensive, user-friendly health information systems that improve patient care and streamline operations.

  • Manage large volumes of patient data.
  • Coordinate care across departments.
  • Protect data privacy and security.

Values

Seven words we hold ourselves to

  • ParticipationWe work with the people who will use a system, not only for them.
  • ResponsivenessWe listen and adapt to what our partners need.
  • IntegrityWe are clear about what works and what it will take.
  • CommunityWe learn from, and contribute to, the wider HISP network.
  • GrowthWe invest in the skills of our team, our partners and our users.
  • DiversityWe value different backgrounds, disciplines and perspectives.
  • SimplicityWe favour systems that are simple to use, run and maintain.

Our approach

Sustainable delivery, institutional ownership, local capacity

Sustainable deliveryWe build systems that partners can run, maintain and fund after we leave.
Institutional ownershipSystems belong to the institutions that depend on them, so we design with their teams and processes, not around them.
Local capacityTraining and mentoring are part of every engagement, so skills stay in the country and the region.
Build on what existsWe integrate and strengthen existing systems before recommending new ones.
