The challenge
Programme teams had DHIS2 available but not configured for their own indicators, reporting cycles and organisation hierarchy, and few staff had used Tracker for individual-level follow-up. Reports were still assembled by hand.
Our role
HISP Zimbabwe set up and configured the instance with the partner, developed the custom pieces that were needed, and designed and delivered the training programme, from data entry and analytics to advanced DHIS2 Tracker configuration.
The solution
Metadata (data elements, indicators, data sets and Tracker programmes) was configured with the programme teams rather than for them, so the configuration reflects how the work is done. Dashboards were built for each level of the hierarchy. Training ran in cohorts with hands-on exercises on the live configuration, and a core group was prepared to administer the system and train others.
Results
The partner now runs DHIS2 for routine reporting and Tracker-based follow-up with its own administrators. Monthly reports are produced from the system rather than compiled by hand, and the training materials were handed over for onward use.
